The Worst Thing of All

It wasn't the squalls that hit with a blast,
It wasn't the size of an ocean so vast,
It wasn't the waves that crashed on the deck,
Nor howling winds, that made nerves a wreck.
It wasn't the spinnaker wrapped 'round the stay,
Nor lightning that flashed as bright as the day.
The tossing of cookies wasn't so bad,
Even torn sails weren't the worst that they had.
It was neither the leaks, nor rolling swell,
Nor the oft played game: Name that Smell.
No, it wasn't even the fear of a broach,
The worst thing of all was the bloody cockroach!
